Entering St Helens at Night

Mariners are advised not to enter St Helens at night - it is extremely dangerous to do so.

The condition of the bar is not good at present and night crossings are extremely dangerous. St Helens Marine Rescue's boat Break O'Day was sunk while attempting to assist a yacht which ran aground overnight on 4 January.

In daylight hours take extreme care. Please contact St Helens Marine Rescue on VHF channel 16 before attempting any crossing.
