Vale Rob Jones (1952 ~ 2026)

We at Tas Maritime Radio are greatly saddened to report the passing of our colleague Rob Jones on 6 March 2026 at the Calvary Hospital in Hobart.

Rob joined our ranks on March 2018 and, after qualifying as an Operator, soon slotted into the Monday 0700-1100 watch which he made his own for much of the last 8 years. He was a great colleague and his military background was reflected in the manner in which he conducted himself on air when dealing with mariners both routinely and in distress situations. His humour became apparent when he found it necessary to berate the 'quartermaster' for forgetting to provide tea and biscuits for his early Monday morning tea.

All of us at Tas Maritime will miss Rob and we send our condolences to Rob's family.
